Sunday Morning Preschool Program
The purpose of the Sunday Morning Preschool Program at St. Clare Parish is to introduce children ages 3 to 5 years to the very basic truths about the Catholic Church, beginning with God's love for mankind and all of creation, and how we can share that love with one another.
The program takes place during the 8:30 am Mass, within the context of the Liturgy of the Word. After the Opening Prayer (Collect), the parents lead their children to the front of the church where they are dismissed with our older students who are participating in the Children's Liturgy of the Word. The little ones are escorted to the preschool wing of the school by two parent volunteers. Parents are always elcome to join us!
The group listens to a story relating to the theme for the day, and participate in a follow-up activity. They return to the church just before the Offertory, receive a blessing during Communion, and are dismissed with their families to share God's love with others.
This program is active during the school year. In order to be in compliance with the Archdiocese of Portland's Child Protection Policy, the class can take place only on those Sundays for which there are two available trained adult leaders who have completed the initial requirements and subsequent annual updates. Please consider joining our team of parent volunteers.
