Vacation Bible Camp
Vacation Bible Camp is a theme-based one week program open to all children ages 4 through 10 years old. The children meet in the BASC Room of the school from 9:00am to 12:00pm. The day begins with a whole group Opening Assembly, which includes songs, a preview of the day's activities, and an introduction to the scripture for the day. The preschool/kindergarten children then go into their room where they participate in age appropriate theme-based activities. They join the larger group for snack and outdoor games. The elementary school age children are grouped by grade levels and led by an experienced teen leader and a helper to different stations throughout the morning. The theme-related activities include a bible study lesson, a craft making station, outdoor grames, and a snack station. At the end of the morning the children meet again for a quick video clip summarizing the theme of the day, more songs, and awards for those children who exemplify the theme.
Adults are needed to help with the set-up and take-down of the environment. Parish volunteer hours are available for parents of St. Clare School students and St. Clare student volunteers. Middle and high school students are needed each year to act as Station Leaders, Group Leaders and Helpers, and Assembly Leaders. Participating teens are required to attend a two hour in-service, as well as help with the set-up for at least one hour the week before the program begins.
