"Catechesis is an education in the faith of children, young people, and adults, which includes especially the teaching of Christian doctrine imparted, generally speaking, in an organic and systematic way, with a view to initiating the hearers into the fullness of Christian life."
(John Paul II, apostolic exhortation, Catechesi tradendae 1;2)
As part of its mission statement, St. Clare parish provides a variety of opportunities for the catechesis of the entire faith community. The Education Commission oversees the following ministries including St. Clare School and Preschool:
St. Clare School is a Catholic parish-school community rooted in Gospel values and dedicated to the spiritual and educational development of the whole child. To learn more, please visit our website.
St. Clare Preschool is a Catholic early childhood education program that fosters joy, curiosity, confidence and spiritual connection in a welcoming community. To learn more, please call us at 503.244.5458.
St. Clare Parish takes the Church's call to protect our children very seriously by requiring adult volunteers who
have any contact with minors under
18 years old to complete the initial specifications of the Archdiocese of Portland Child Protection Training. In addition, volunteers need to keep their status current and up-to-date by taking annual refresher courses mandated
by the archdiocese and renewing their background check every 3 years. For more information on how to complete these requirements, please click the available links below.
